Senior SQL Server Developer (T-SQL, Stored Procedures, Performance Tuning, SSIS)
Solve complex SQL Server challenges, tune critical queries and make data migrations reliable — remotely from Latin America on US business hours.
The Opportunity
Join a US client's engineering team as their senior SQL Server developer, owning the hardest problems in the database of an established platform: the procedures that have to be right, the data that has to reconcile, and the queries nobody else can figure out. Fully remote from Latin America, US business hours, 18 month contract.
What You'll Bring
- Real T-SQL expertise. Complex stored procedures, functions, triggers, views and dynamic SQL, written so the next person can read them. Much of the business logic lives in the database.
- Performance tuning with evidence. You read execution plans, understand statistics, indexing and parameter sniffing, and can show a measured before and after.
- Senior problem solving on legacy code. You can read and change database code you did not write, often with no documentation and sometimes with nobody left who remembers why it works.
- Experience upgrading SQL Server across versions and testing for changes in behavior.
- Data movement with proof. Migrations, ETL and reconciliation work where you can show that row counts, checksums and edge cases match.
- SSIS experience, plus working knowledge of SQL Agent jobs and the DBA basics: backups, indexing, permissions and blocking.
- The ability to turn a short verbal brief into scoped, finished work, with visible daily progress and no chasing.
- Skilled AI use that streamlines your work rather than doing it for you. You can walk through and defend everything you submit.
- Excellent written and verbal English.
What Sets You Apart
- Experience with database migrations or platform moves, including retiring old code paths safely.
- Familiarity with VB6 or Classic ASP applications that call into the database.
- SSRS report design and troubleshooting.
- Azure SQL or SQL Managed Instance experience.
- Database source control and deployment, such as SSDT projects or versioned migration scripts in Git.
