Front End Engineer, React | One Month Contract
Client: US based venue intelligence platform (occupancy, foot traffic, and crowd analytics) Engagement: ~4 weeks, hourly, contracted through Flylance Location: Remote, LATAM
Why This Role Exists
The client runs a live product that counts people through doors at real venues. The data is already flowing and the backend that handles it is owned by their existing team. What does not exist yet is the interface that turns any of it into something an operator can use.
That is this role, and it is the whole role. One engineer, one month, one deliverable: the web reporting dashboard, built from an empty repository to something venues actually log into.
The Opportunity
You are not joining a backlog. You are the person who builds this, and there is nothing to inherit and nobody to wait on. The data layer, the pipelines and the infrastructure are handled by their team, so you get a clear spec, clean data to work against, and full ownership of everything above it.
Four weeks, tightly scoped, with a small team that can make decisions in an afternoon.
What You Will Own
- The web reporting dashboard, architected and built from scratch in React with Vite
- Component architecture and state management for a data dense application
- Post event analytics views: charts, tables, filtering, sorting, and time based reporting
- Data export and compliance reporting views, including capacity reporting for fire marshal requirements
- Interfaces that adapt at runtime to how each venue is configured, with its own zones, areas and capacity limits
How Your Work Needs to Land
- You build from a spec without needing it rewritten. The requirements will come to you defined. You are expected to turn them into working software, ask sharp questions where they are ambiguous, and not stall waiting for more detail.
- You are comfortable with data heavy interfaces. The difficulty here is presenting live and historical numbers clearly, not styling. Tables with real row counts, charts that stay readable, filters that do not lock the UI.
- You make structural decisions early and stick to them. Folder structure, state approach, data fetching and component patterns all get decided in week one by you, and the rest of the month runs on them.
- You move at four week pace. Short engagement, no ramp period. You should expect to be committing useful work in the first few days.
What You'll Bring
React, at production depth:
- Production React with TypeScript, and Vite or comparable modern build tooling.
- Demonstrated ownership of a web application's frontend: component structure, reusable component patterns, and a deliberate approach to state management.
- Experience building data dense interfaces such as dashboards, reporting views or admin panels, where filtering, sorting, pagination and charting over real data volumes are the actual work.
Working independently:
- Track record of taking a defined scope and delivering it end to end without close supervision.
- Comfort making frontend architecture decisions on your own and defending them.
Communication:
- Professional English, written and verbal, sufficient to work directly with a US based team.
- Comfort raising blockers early across time zones rather than absorbing them quietly.
Availability:
- Full availability aligned to the schedule above for the full four weeks.
- Reliable home office setup with backup internet and power.
What Sets You Apart
- Charting and data visualization libraries such as Recharts, Chart.js, D3 or similar
- Prior work on live operational dashboards where the numbers drive an immediate decision
- Interfaces driven by customer or tenant configuration rather than hardcoded structure
- Design system or component library ownership
- Firebase or Google Cloud Platform familiarity
- Fluent use of AI development tooling such as Claude Code or Cursor
Engagement Details
- Roughly four weeks, hourly, contracted and paid through Flylance
- Flylance handles contracting, compliance, onboarding, and benefits
- Remote from Latin America on the schedule above
- Possible further work contingent on the client's funding round, with no commitment either way
Why You'll Love Working With Us
