About the Role

We are a venture backed, early stage technology company building a modern platform used by a large, growing customer base. We're looking for a Lead Fullstack Engineer to take real technical and architectural ownership across our core product: a NestJS backend, a Next.js web application, and a React Native mobile app, all in a single monorepo.

This role goes beyond execution. You will set technical direction, make architecture calls, and be the person in the room who can identify the right solution and stand behind it, calmly and with evidence, even when that means pushing back on a popular but weaker idea. You will work closely with product and company leadership to keep execution aligned with the roadmap and proactively flag when the two are drifting apart.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural design, development, and deployment of features across the monorepo (NestJS backend, Next.js web application, React Native mobile app).
• Collaborate closely with product and leadership to understand requirements, provide technical insight, and work backward from the roadmap to deliver impactful solutions, flagging misalignment early and directly.
• Drive best practices in code quality, testing (Jest), and maintainability through code reviews, documentation, and continuous improvement.
• Manage and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, deploying reliably to AWS ECR and ECS Fargate.
• Proactively identify technical risk, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement across the stack, and propose and implement scalable solutions, advocating for the right approach even when it is not the easiest one.
• Mentor and guide other engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and direct, fact based problem solving.
• Ensure the stability, security, and performance of the application, particularly around critical integrations such as payment processing, spreadsheet, and document platform APIs.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional experience in software development, with at least 2 years in a lead or senior capacity, including real ownership of architecture decisions.
• Deep expertise in Node.js and TypeScript, with significant experience using NestJS and MongoDB (Mongoose).
• Proven track record with modern frontend development using React and Next.js (App Router).
• Strong proficiency in mobile development with Expo and React Native.
• Hands on experience with AWS services, including ECR, ECS Fargate, and Secrets Manager.
• Extensive experience with GitHub Actions for CI/CD and Docker for containerization.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize, and execute complex technical projects independently and collaboratively.
• A track record of advocating for the correct technical solution with data and reasoning, and holding that position calmly under pushback, rather than deferring for the sake of ease or consensus.
• A strong user centric mindset, dedicated to delivering exceptional product experiences.

Nice to Have

• Experience integrating payment solutions like Stripe Connect and PaymentIntents.
• Familiarity with message queues (BullMQ) and caching technologies (Upstash Redis).
• Prior experience working in a fast paced startup environment.
• Knowledge of monorepo management best practices and tooling (pnpm, ESLint, lefthook).
• Exposure to AI agent integration concepts or related technologies.
