About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Senior SQL Server Database Engineer to play a critical role in managing, optimizing, and ensuring the reliability of our client's Microsoft SQL Server environment. In this role, you will apply your deep expertise to maintain high performance, uphold best practices, and support associated reporting and data integration systems. Your contributions will directly impact the stability and efficiency of key business operations.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive day-to-day administration and operational support for Microsoft SQL Server environments (SQL Server 2019 or 2022), including monitoring, backup/recovery, and general maintenance.
• Perform in-depth performance analysis, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations for databases and complex queries, including index tuning and execution plan review.
• Administer and troubleshoot SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), assisting with report deployments, diagnosing performance issues, and ensuring service reliability.
• Support existing data integration processes, including maintaining and troubleshooting SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages and other SQL-based data movement solutions.
• Collaborate with technical teams to define and implement database best practices for operational efficiency, security, and long-term maintainability.
• Proactively monitor database health, performance metrics, and system logs to ensure stable and predictable operation of all SQL Server instances.
• Develop and maintain documentation for database configurations, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
• Provide expert advisory services on SQL Server architecture, capacity planning, and platform enhancement strategies.

Requirements

• 5+ years of progressive experience in Microsoft SQL Server database administration, with hands-on experience in SQL Server 2019 or 2022.
• Demonstrated expertise in SQL Server performance monitoring, tuning, and optimization techniques, including query optimization, indexing strategies, and server configuration.
• Strong proficiency in administering and troubleshooting SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
• Solid experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) for designing, deploying, and maintaining ETL processes.
• In-depth knowledge of database backup, recovery, and high availability solutions (e.g., AlwaysOn Availability Groups, Log Shipping).
• Ability to analyze complex technical issues, diagnose root causes, and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of providing clear technical guidance and collaborating with diverse teams.
• Experience with database security best practices and compliance.

Nice to Have

• Experience with PowerShell scripting for SQL Server automation and administrative tasks.
• Familiarity with other business intelligence or data visualization tools.
• Knowledge of cloud database services, particularly Azure SQL Database or Azure SQL Managed Instance.
• Relevant Microsoft certifications (e.g., MCSA: SQL 2016 Database Administration, Azure Database Administrator Associate).
